The Limpopo Tourism Agency is spearheading its annual winter campaign to promote the province as a top destination for travelers seeking warmer weather during the colder months. The initiative aims to boost winter tourism by highlighting Limpopo’s mild climate and popular attractions, such as the Kruger National Park and the Mopani Rest Camp.
With many South Africans bundling up against winter chills in regions like the Western Cape, Limpopo is positioning itself as an ideal escape. “We have two summers here—even in winter, it’s summer in Limpopo,” said Mr. Tshitereke Matibe, a representative from the Limpopo Economic Development, Environment, and Tourism Department, during an interview.
The campaign is part of broader efforts to sustain tourism year-round, a key economic driver for the province. “Tourism is one of our key pillars for job creation,” Mr. Matibe explained. “Every 10 to 15 international tourists who visit create one or two jobs for our youth.”
Limpopo’s winter campaign includes seasonal promotions across various categories—summer, winter, and spring—to attract both domestic and international visitors. Tourists can enjoy wildlife safaris, nature reserves, and the province’s renowned warm hospitality.
The conditions were confirmed as noticeably warmer at the Phalaborwa Gate of the Kruger National Park, encouraging travelers to consider Limpopo for their next winter getaway.
As the campaign gains momentum, the province hopes to see an influx of visitors eager to swap chilly mornings for Limpopo’s sunny skies.
