In a coordinated operation, the Hawks from Bellville and George, working alongside the Department of Home Affairs Immigration and the non-governmental organization A21, arrested two suspects for human trafficking on Friday, 30 May 2025.
The suspects, aged 31 and 34, were apprehended following the execution of a search warrant at a guest house in Goodwood. The operation was launched after authorities received information about a possible trafficking victim being held against her will and forced into sex work.
During the raid, law enforcement discovered four women who admitted to working as sex workers. Additionally, five other adults and three small children were found on the premises. Two individuals identified as the guest house managers were immediately taken into custody.
Investigations confirmed that one of the sex workers was indeed a victim of trafficking. She was transported to a medical facility for examination before being placed in a secure safehouse.
The two arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 02 June 2025, to face charges related to human trafficking.
