Marloth Park, Komatipoort – Police in Mpumalanga have launched a manhunt for three suspects following a harrowing house robbery and attempted murder in Marloth Park on Saturday evening, 07 June 2025.
The incident unfolded around 20:00 when a 68-year-old man, who relies on a portable life-support machine due to a lung condition, and his 64-year-old wife were at home. The elderly man reportedly heard persistent knocking outside but found no one upon checking. As he moved around the house to investigate, three unknown male suspects forced their way inside through the bedroom door.
According to authorities, one suspect was armed with a firearm, another carried a knife, and the third appeared unarmed. The armed assailant stabbed the elderly man and pushed him onto the bed, while the second suspect held his wife at gunpoint, demanding money.
The robbers fled with R180,000 in cash, $10,000, a firearm, and two airguns, with the total estimated value of stolen property amounting to approximately R194,200.
Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects to contact Sergeant Moses Thobela at 082 449 0272. Alternatively, tip-offs can be reported anonymously via Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or through the My SAPS App. Authorities have assured confidentiality for all informants.
Investigations are ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this stage.
