The Victoria West Regional Court has convicted and sentenced 35-year-old Ricardo Fritz to ten years’ direct imprisonment for housebreaking and theft following incidents reported in June and July 2023.
The Victoria West police responded to two separate housebreaking cases in Noorder Street on 25 June and 13 July 2023. At the time, the identity of the suspect remained unknown.
Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Local Criminal Record Centre processed the crime scenes and collected crucial forensic evidence. This evidence later linked Fritz to the break-ins.
Fritz, who is currently serving a sentence for an unrelated matter, was recently found guilty and handed a decade-long prison term. The conviction underscores the importance of forensic investigations in securing justice for affected communities.
