A coordinated police operation over two days resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old man and the seizure of a substantial quantity of protected plants, police confirmed.
The success is attributed to the vigilance and alertness of members from Delta Platoon of the Springbok Public Order Policing unit, who were on duty between 20 and 21 October 2025.
While conducting foot patrols in the Springbok Central Business District, the members made the arrest at a fuel station on Voortrekker Street. The suspect was apprehended during a random stop and search operation.
According to police reports, the man was found in possession of a large amount of endangered plant species. The plants, which hold a substantial monetary value, were discovered concealed inside a SASKO flour bag within his travel bag.
The suspect is expected to make an appearance in the Springbok Magistrate’s Court in the coming days.
