The search for three-year-old Katleho Joy Leeuw ended tragically on Tuesday after her body was discovered in a remote area near Glen Location.
The child was reported missing by her mother, Vuyiswa Joyce Leeuw. The subsequent search operation was led by Captain Jerry Motaung of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit.
The search continued into the early hours of Tuesday morning, culminating in the grim discovery at approximately 11:20. Katleho’s fragile body was found dumped in thick bushes a distance away from Glen Location.
Preliminary investigation by police indicates that the toddler was sexually assaulted before being murdered. Crime scene experts were deployed to the area to comb for further clues and evidence that could assist the ongoing investigation.
A case of murder has been officially opened at the Glen Police Station.
