Man Appears in Court for Murder and Burying Victim in Shallow Grave

A 40-year-old man, Lebogang Molutsi, has been remanded in custody following a brief appearance in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 24 October 2025. Molutsi faces charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.

The case has been postponed to Friday, 31 October 2025.

Molutsi’s arrest on Wednesday, 22 October 2025, stems from the alleged killing of 49-year-old Rachel Manone. According to police, the breakthrough came when members of the Tactical Response Team (TRT) questioned a person of interest in connection with a missing woman.

Following this interrogation, the team proceeded to a house in Extension 7, where they located Molutsi. The accused then led the police to his residence in the Sunnyside informal settlement in Jouberton.

It was there, inside a shack, that the body of Rachel Manone was discovered buried in a shallow grave. Molutsi was immediately placed under arrest. The motive for the incident remains unknown at this time.
