In a pre-dawn operation on Saturday, 25 October 2025, police in Bulwer arrested two foreign nationals for the alleged possession of stolen livestock.
The arrest was made by the Bulwer South African Police Service (SAPS) Tracing Team, which intercepted a vehicle travelling towards Pietermaritzburg. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered thirty-one live animals, comprising twenty goats and eleven sheep.
The two male occupants, aged 36 and 40, presented documentation claiming to authorize the transportation of the livestock. However, a preliminary verification by the police revealed the documents to be falsified. Authorities subsequently contacted the person listed as the seller on the documents, who denied any knowledge or involvement in the alleged sale.
The suspects were immediately taken into custody. They are scheduled to make their first appearance before the Hlanganani Magistrates Court on Monday, 27 October 2025, to face charges related to the possession of suspected stolen property.
