Police in Sebayeng Search for Mother After Newborn Baby Abandoned Near Brick Yard


Authorities in Sebayeng have launched an urgent search for a woman who allegedly gave birth and then abandoned her newborn baby girl near a brick yard in the Makotong, Kgatla Section.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning, 19 October 2025, at approximately 06:00. According to police reports, a female passer-by discovered the infant abandoned along the road under a thorn tree. The newborn was found wrapped in a black jersey and placed inside a plastic bag.

The woman who made the discovery immediately alerted community members, the police, and emergency medical services.

Upon arrival at the scene, police officers found the baby girl alive and crying. She was reported to have no visible injuries. The child was swiftly transported to a local clinic for necessary medical attention and is currently in a stable condition.

The police are now appealing to the public for assistance in locating the mother of the child.
