Major Drug Bust in Bloemfontein: Two Arrested, R200,000 in Narcotics Seized

A targeted operation by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) has led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of a significant cache of drugs and cash in separate incidents across the city.

The operation was initiated after the AGU acted on a tip-off regarding a 41-year-old foreign national allegedly involved in drug-dealing activities within the Central Business District (CBD). Members immediately launched an investigation, which led them to a specific shop in the CBD.

Upon arriving at the identified premises, AGU members approached the adult male and conducted a thorough inspection of his shop. During the search, a large quantity of various illegal drugs was uncovered.

The estimated street value of the recovered narcotics is approximately R200,000. In addition to the drugs, a large sum of cash, suspected to be the proceeds of the illegal drug trade, was also confiscated.

In a separate, intelligence-led operation, AGU members shifted their focus to the Heidedal area. There, a 30-year-old male was arrested after drugs, including crystal meth, were found in his possession.

Both suspects—the 41-year-old foreign national and the 30-year-old male—were immediately placed under arrest on charges of dealing in drugs. They are expected to make their respective appearances in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court in the near future.
