A targeted police operation in the Delft precinct has led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man in connection with the murder of three people in Leiden over the weekend. The arrest comes as part of a broader response to a recent surge of violent crime in the area.
According to police reports, the breakthrough followed the deployment of Operation Shanela II members, who acted on specific intelligence. The suspect was apprehended yesterday at approximately 19:00 at a residence on Bordaair Street in Voorbug, Delft.
He is linked to the triple murder that occurred on Sunday on Sandrivier Street in the Leiden area.
At the time of his arrest, the suspect was found in possession of a firearm holster and an amount of cash totaling R7400. Both items were seized by police for evidence.
Authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing and that further arrests are anticipated.
The 25-year-old suspect is expected to be formally charged and make his first appearance in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court in the coming days.
