A 29-year-old man is in custody and expected to face charges in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court after being arrested for the alleged rape of his 12-year-old stepdaughter.
The incident came to light on the morning of Sunday, 09 November 2025. According to reports, the complainant’s mother was at home with her older son when he presented her with a note. The note, allegedly written by his 12-year-old sister, disclosed that her stepfather had been sexually assaulting her.
Upon being confronted, the 12-year-old girl confirmed the allegations detailed in the note. Her mother immediately took her to the Zamdela Police Station to formally open a case.
The Zamdela Crime Prevention Unit was assigned to the investigation. Acting on the information provided, officers successfully traced and located the suspect on the same day. The arrest was effected at approximately 22:20.
The suspect remains in police custody and is scheduled to make a prompt appearance before the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court to face formal charges of rape.
