On Friday, 12 December 2025, Stilfontein Police seized a cache of explosives during a routine roadblock on the N12 between Stilfontein and Klerksdorp.
The search of a stopped vehicle yielded six bags containing explosives and accessories. Three male suspects, aged 41 to 48, were arrested for possession of explosives under the Explosives Act.
A bomb technician secured the scene. The haul included approximately 150 shocktube detonator assemblies, nearly 40 electric shocktube initiators, and 5 blasting cartridges.
The trio will appear in the Stilfontein Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 15 December 2025.
