The Mpumalanga High Court has sentenced Khutullo Sipho Sekgobela (27) to 28 years in prison for murder and attempted murder.
The sentencing was delivered on Thursday, 11 December 2025.
The court found that on 07 April 2023, Sekgobela assaulted his female friend outside a tavern in Acornhoek. When Jetro Mashile (40) intervened, Sekgobela stabbed him in the chest. Mashile died in the hospital. Mashile’s female friend was also stabbed in the arm during the incident.
Sekgobela was arrested in Gauteng on 28 October 2024 after a police investigation.
He received 15 years for murder and 3 years for attempted murder, to be served concurrently. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
