A manhunt is underway for suspects involved in a shooting at a licensed tavern in Bekkersdal’s Tambo section on Sunday, 21 December 2025.
The incident occurred just before 01:00. Approximately twelve unknown suspects in a white kombi and a silver sedan opened fire on patrons, killing nine people and injuring ten others. The suspects continued shooting randomly as they fled.
The injured have been taken to medical facilities for treatment.
Gauteng Serious and Violent Crime Investigations and the Crime Detection Tracing Unit are leading the investigation. Forensic Crime Scene Management and Crime Intelligence resources have been mobilized. The motive is unknown and under investigation.
