An investigation is underway after a fire destroyed two container offices at the Schoemansdal Police Station on Thursday.
According to a preliminary report by South African Police Service (SAPS) officials, members stationed at the facility noticed the blaze in the containers, which were being utilized as office spaces, around midday on 19 February 2026.
Police confirmed that all personnel were on duty at the time of the incident and that no injuries were reported. The fire caused significant damage to the two structures and their contents.
Emergency services and firefighters responded swiftly to the scene, successfully containing the blaze and preventing it from spreading to other parts of the station.
An assessment is currently being conducted to determine the full extent of the damages. Authorities have stated that the public will be updated as more information becomes available. Meanwhile, an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
