R2.2 Million in Crystal Meth Seized at OR Tambo, Destined for Philippines

In a significant breakthrough this week, police at OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) uncovered crystal meth with an estimated street value of R2.2 million.

The discovery was made on Wednesday, 04 March 2026, during routine daily operations at a cargo warehouse on the airport premises. According to authorities, the illicit drugs were found packaged and ready for shipment. The consignment was destined for the Philippines and had originated from South Africa.

The narcotics have been seized by police. An investigation is currently underway to identify and track down the individuals responsible for trafficking the drugs.
