Trump Threatens to ‘Massively Blow Up’ Iran’s South Pars Gas Field if Iran Attacks Qatar Again

President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, declaring that the United States will destroy the entirety of the world’s largest natural gas field if Tehran launches further attacks on Qatar’s LNG facilities.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump described Israel’s recent strike on a portion of Iran’s South Pars Gas Field as an act of anger over broader events in the Middle East. He emphasized that the United States knew nothing about the attack, Qatar was in no way involved and had no prior knowledge of it, and only a relatively small section of the field was hit.

Trump stated that Iran, lacking these pertinent facts, “unjustifiably and unfairly attacked a portion of Qatar’s LNG Gas facility” in retaliation. He vowed that “NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL” on the South Pars Field unless Iran “unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar.”

In that event, Trump said, “the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before.” He added that he does not want to authorize such violence and destruction due to its long-term implications for Iran’s future but “will not hesitate to do so” if Qatar’s LNG is attacked again.

The escalation follows an Israeli airstrike on South Pars, part of the world’s largest gas resource and a pillar of Iran’s energy supply. Iran responded with missile strikes on Qatar’s main gas facility, which Qatar condemned as a threat to its national security and global energy markets. Reports indicate the Qatari site, associated with the Ras Laffan LNG complex, sustained extensive damage.

This tit-for-tat exchange on energy infrastructure comes amid heightened regional tensions. Israeli strikes have recently eliminated key Iranian figures, including the country’s intelligence minister and top security leader Ali Larijani, prompting Iranian retaliation with missile and drone attacks on Israel and Gulf targets. Iran also fired ballistic missiles and drones toward Saudi energy facilities, some of which were intercepted.

A U.S. source previously indicated awareness of the Israeli strike on South Pars, though Trump explicitly denied U.S. involvement or foreknowledge. Qatar has stressed it played no role in the events leading to the Iranian attack on its territory.

Broader developments include ongoing Israeli operations against Iranian leadership and Iran’s threats to target additional Gulf oil and gas infrastructure. A Pentagon press conference is scheduled for the following morning, where Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine are expected to provide updates on U.S. military operations in the region, including Operation Epic Fury.

The strikes have raised concerns over global energy security, with potential disruptions to LNG and oil supplies stemming from damage to these critical shared and regional facilities. Trump’s statement appears aimed at deterring further Iranian retaliation against Gulf states while limiting the scope of Israeli actions on the South Pars site.
