The Mangaung Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit has welcomed the life sentence handed down to Jan Keholotse, 38, for the rape of a minor.
The crime occurred on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, in the Ipopeng Square area.
According to court proceedings, the mother of the 4-year-old victim grew concerned when she could not locate her daughter. After a friend informed her that the child was at a neighbor’s shack, the mother went to the premises and forced entry.
Upon entering, she found her daughter naked on a bed with the accused, Keholotse, who was partially undressed. The mother immediately rescued the child and reported the incident at the Kopanong Police Station.
The case was assigned to Sergeant Princess Tsubane of the Mangaung FCS Unit. In collaboration with Advocate York from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), investigators built a water-tight case that led to the suspect being found guilty of rape.
Keholotse was sentenced to life imprisonment. His name will also be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO).
