A 50-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday, 27 March 2026, following a joint operation by the Johannesburg Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team, SAPS Jeppe Detectives, Gauteng Crime Intelligence, the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC), and the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA).
According to authorities, members of Gauteng Provincial Detectives were conducting operational duties in Kensington, Johannesburg, on the same day when they observed a suspect holding a suspicious box. Police approached the individual and requested to search the box, uncovering various medications inside.
Further investigation led officers to a premises where they discovered an active manufacturing operation for medicines and related substances. The seized products have an estimated value of R1 million.
The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Jeppe Magistrates Court on Monday, 30 March 2026.
