15-Year-Old Student Shoots Teacher at Texas High School Before Dying by Suicide

BULVERDE, Texas — A 15-year-old student at Hill Country College Preparatory High School shot a teacher Monday morning before turning the gun on himself and dying at the scene, authorities said.

The incident occurred in Bulverde, a town in the Texas Hill Country just north of San Antonio, during morning classes on March 30, 2026.

Comal County Sheriff Mark Reynolds confirmed that the male student fatally shot himself after shooting the teacher. The teacher was transported to a hospital in San Antonio for treatment. No update on her condition was immediately available, and no other injuries were reported.

The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution while emergency crews responded. Students and staff were later evacuated, with some transported to Bulverde Middle School to reunite with parents. Classes were canceled for the following day.

Authorities described the event as a contained incident with no ongoing threat to the campus. Investigations continued into the circumstances, including the relationship between the student and the teacher, as well as how the firearm was obtained. Motive and any potential warning signs remained under review, with Reynolds noting it was too early to draw conclusions.

The shooting prompted a swift response from law enforcement and first responders in the Comal County area.

This marks another tragic episode of school violence in Texas, leaving the local community and the broader Hill Country region shaken. Counseling and support resources were expected to be made available for students, staff, and families affected by the event.
