A 49-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 02 April 2026, after being arrested on 31 March 2026 for possession of illegal drugs valued at approximately R3 million.
The arrest was carried out by a multi-disciplinary team comprising the East Rand Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit, Police Emergency Services Flexi shift, Crime Intelligence Gathering, and the Tshwane K9 unit. The operation took place in Morningside, Sandton.
According to reports, the team acted on intelligence-led information by tracking a vehicle matching a description provided. The vehicle was stopped and searched, leading to the discovery of suspected crystal methamphetamine on the passenger seat.
The suspect was subsequently taken to his residence, where he granted permission for a further search. Additional drugs were found on the premises, resulting in his arrest on charges of dealing in illegal drugs.
Authorities confiscated exhibits with an estimated street value of R3 million, including a VW Tiguan, crystal meth, and heroin.
The suspect is set to make his first court appearance on Thursday.
