ATLANTA, Georgia – A 3-year-old child was killed in a shooting early Monday morning on Washington Street SW in Atlanta’s Peoplestown neighborhood, authorities said.
Police responded to the area just after 12:30 a.m. following reports of the incident. Officers found the toddler suffering from a gunshot wound upon arrival. The child was immediately transported to a nearby hospital—located less than half a mile from the scene at Southside Medical Center—but was later pronounced dead.
Investigators are actively working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting and are searching for the person responsible for the toddler’s death.
