Man Dies After Being Shot During Argument on Marbut Road, Found Injured on I-285 in DeKalb County

DeKalb County, Georgia — Police responded to a report of a person shot on Interstate 285 southbound near Glenwood Road early Tuesday morning, where they found a man suffering serious gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a hospital but later died from his injuries.

Authorities said the victim was actually shot nearby on Marbut Road after getting into an argument with someone there. A witness drove the victim away from the scene and called for help once they reached the interstate.

Police blocked off lanes on the highway for several hours while investigating the shooting.

DeKalb County Police officials confirmed the sequence of events but provided no immediate details on whether anyone has been taken into custody. The investigation remains ongoing, with preliminary information indicating the dispute involved people who knew each other.

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet publicly released the victim’s name in initial reports, and no suspect information has been disclosed.
