Double Homicide Suspects Charged with Capital Murder After Bodies Found in Texas Ravine

Medina County authorities have charged a woman and her partner with capital murder following the discovery of the bodies of her mother and stepfather, who were allegedly strangled and stabbed before being dumped in a ravine.

The victims were identified as Sherry Rabin and her husband Steven Rabin, who lived in Mico, Texas. Sherry Rabin’s biological daughter, Cassandra Lange, has confessed to the killings, according to officials.

The case began on April 8 when a coworker of Steven Rabin walked into the Medina County Sheriff’s Office lobby expressing concern that Rabin had not shown up for work. Sheriff Randy Brown said a deputy responded to the home and made a disturbing find while checking outside.

“He looked in a trash can that was set out by the curb and it was some bloody items,” Brown stated. Investigators were called to the scene, where they discovered additional evidence suggesting foul play at the residence. A search warrant was then secured.

Authorities tracked a missing vehicle belonging to the victims to Corpus Christi. Police there pulled over the car and found Cassandra Lange and Joby Williams inside, along with Lange’s 6-year-old daughter and an infant.

Lange is the biological daughter of Sherry Rabin, and Steven Rabin was her stepfather. Sheriff Brown confirmed that the suspects dumped the bodies in a ravine along Farm to Market Road 1283 near Medina Lake in Mico. The victims had been strangled and stabbed, and a knife was recovered at the residence.

So far, no clear motive has been established. Brown noted that guns, money, tools, and the vehicle were taken, but added, “You can’t figure out what the motive is. Was it for property or I don’t really know.”

The 6-year-old child has been returned to her father, while the one-month-old infant is now under the care of Child Protective Services.

Cassandra Lange is being held in Medina County, while Joby Williams remains in custody in Corpus Christi. Both face capital murder charges.
