Brunswick Man Charged with Murder After Body Discovered in Home

A 45-year-old man from Brunswick is in custody at the Cumberland County Jail after being charged with murder in connection with the discovery of a dead body at a residence in the town.

According to Maine State Police, officers from the Bath Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance around 6:30 p.m. on Friday. During that response, they interviewed Tanner Dostie of Brunswick. His statements prompted investigators to conduct a search at a residence in Brunswick, where they discovered a body.

The body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office for identification and an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Tanner Dostie was arrested and charged with murder. He remains held at the Cumberland County Jail.

Maine State Police have said the investigation is ongoing and limited details are being released at this time. The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is leading the probe, with assistance from the Bath Police Department, Brunswick Police Department, Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
