FORT WORTH, Texas — A family argument at a gathering in southeast Fort Worth turned violent late Sunday night when two family members opened fire, striking five people, according to investigators.
The shooting occurred around 11:00 p.m. at a home on Shackelford Street near Mansfield Highway. Police say the incident began as some sort of dispute that rapidly escalated, with the two individuals pulling out guns and firing at the scene.
All five victims were hit by gunfire but are recovering from their injuries, authorities reported. Fort Worth Police Department officials have identified at least one suspect in the shooting and are actively working to take that person into custody.
A spokesperson for the Fort Worth Police Department described the case as particularly disturbing, noting that a young man has already been charged with murder in connection with the events. Investigators believe the violence stemmed directly from the family dispute at the gathering.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the argument and the roles of those involved. No further details on the identities of the victims or suspects were released at this time.
