Four Arrested in Walmer Murder After Swift Police Investigation

Walmer police have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old male, following a rapid investigation that led officers to both the primary crime scene and the alleged perpetrators.

According to police reports, on Sunday, 12 April 2026, at approximately 02:45, South African Police Service (SAPS) members responded to a complaint after the victim was brought to Livingstone Hospital in Korsten via a private vehicle. Hospital staff declared the victim dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigations by Walmer SAPS detectives identified the primary crime scene in Airport Valley, Walmer, at around 07:00 the same morning. With assistance from Walmer SAPS, the Gqeberha K9 unit, the Flying Squad, and the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC), officers processed the scene and collected crucial evidence.

Further investigation led to information on the suspects’ whereabouts. Officers operationalised the information, resulting in the arrest of four suspects aged between 29 and 35. The alleged murder weapon was also confiscated.

The deceased sustained multiple open wounds to the face and head. The motive for the murder remains unknown and is part of the ongoing investigation.

The four suspects are expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, on a charge of murder.
