A 50-year-old man was arrested at his residence in Rooi Els Street, Bonteheuwel, on Sunday, 12 April 2026, and faces charges of possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.
According to police information, members of the Public Order Police were conducting patrols in the area when they received credible intelligence regarding drug sales at the suspect’s home. Officers descended on the address at approximately 15:15 and conducted a search of the premises.
During the search of the bedroom, police located and seized one bag of dagga. A subsequent search of the suspect’s motor vehicle, which was parked in the yard, yielded a second bag of dagga, tik, and mandrax tablets.
Police also recovered cash amounting to R11,507.50 from inside the vehicle.
The suspect was arrested on charges of possession of drugs and dealing in drugs. He is expected to make his first court appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court upon being formally charged.
