The Mogwase High Court sentenced Tshepo Motsisi, 27, to two life imprisonment terms on Friday, 10 April 2026, following his conviction for the rape and murder of a 45-year-old woman in Mabeskraal.
The court heard that on Sunday, 24 April 2022, the victim was discovered half-naked in the street in Lesesele Section with severe injuries. She was transported to a local healthcare facility and subsequently transferred to a hospital but died en route.
Investigation established that Motsisi was the last person observed with the victim. He was traced and arrested at his residence. During the arrest, bloodstained clothing was seized from his bedroom and submitted for forensic DNA analysis. Laboratory results confirmed the blood belonged to the deceased.
The investigation further disclosed that Motsisi had been convicted for a separate murder committed in 2009 and was out on parole at the time of the 2022 offense.
The court imposed the following sentences:
-
Rape: Life imprisonment
-
Murder: Life imprisonment
The court ordered that the sentences run concurrently.
