San Antonio police are searching for a suspect in a road rage shooting that occurred in a neighborhood off Old Pearsall Road on the southwest side of the city.
Officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 8:40 a.m. after a 38-year-old man was shot in the upper right shoulder. According to police, the incident unfolded when a woman was leaving her driveway on Running Course. A man, described as being between 25 and 30 years old and driving a white truck, became involved in an argument with the woman.
Witnesses told police the dispute escalated when the man grabbed the woman’s phone as she began taking photos of him. The 38-year-old victim, who was nearby, intervened and attempted to retrieve the phone. As the victim started driving away in his black truck, the suspect opened fire, striking the victim.
The victim asked bystanders for help until emergency medical services arrived and applied a tourniquet. He was transported to a hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police described the shooting as a road rage incident and stated that the suspect fled the scene in his white truck immediately afterward. Officers have been interviewing witnesses at the location and continue to gather information as they search for the shooter, who remains at large.
