Eldine Swarts (30) has been convicted and sentenced for the murder of Jim Seokamo (51), following a stabbing incident on 27 April 2025.
On that date, Swarts fatally stabbed Seokamo with a knife at Ditloung New Stands in Olifantshoek, after he informed her that he no longer wished to continue their relationship. Seokamo was rushed to Olifantshoek Hospital, where he later died from the stab wound.
Swarts was arrested by police on the same day of the incident and was subsequently released on bail pending the finalization of court proceedings.
On Tuesday, 14 April 2026, the Olifantshoek Regional Court convicted Swarts and sentenced her to eight (8) years’ imprisonment, of which three (3) years are wholly suspended for a period of five (5) years.
Acting District Commissioner of the John Taolo Gaetsewe District, Brigadier Kenneth Baloyi, commended the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Kagisho Grootboom of the Olifantshoek Detectives, for a thorough investigation that ensured a violent perpetrator was removed from society.
