Toddler Dies in South Dallas Shooting; Police Chief Calls Loss ‘Heartbreaking’

A two-year-old child has died following a shooting at a home in the Cedar Crest area of southern Dallas, authorities confirmed late Tuesday.

Dallas police said officers were called to a shooting at approximately 1:20 p.m. in the 1700 block of Hemphill Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered the toddler had been shot. The child succumbed to their injuries later that night.

Officials have not released any details regarding the circumstances of the shooting, including how the child was shot. No information has been provided as of the latest updates from the department.

Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux described the incident as a quote, “heartbreaking and unacceptable loss.”
