Murder Accused Sentenced to 10 Years in Philipstown Regional Court

The Pixley Ka Seme District Management has welcomed the conviction and sentencing of a murder accused in the Philipstown Regional Court on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.

Stanley Teis (30) was found guilty of murder and sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment. The court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm.

The case dates back to Sunday, 24 December 2023, when police in Petrusville received a complaint from community members at approximately 03:45 regarding a male victim who had been stabbed in Petrusville.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the victim bleeding from multiple stab wounds. The 47-year-old male victim succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Detective Constable Johnny Nell arrested Teis for murder immediately following the incident. Bail was denied, and Teis remained in custody until the finalisation of the case in the Philipstown Regional Court.
