Members of the Makhaza Crime Prevention Unit arrested four suspects on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, following a self-initiated operation in Lindela Road.
At approximately 17:00, officers spotted a silver-grey Renault containing four males who appeared suspicious. The vehicle was stopped and searched, resulting in the discovery of six cellular telephones.
Further investigation established that the Renault had been reported hijacked at Lingelethu West SAPS. Additionally, the four suspects are alleged to have committed a robbery at a shop in Strand.
The suspects were arrested and detained at Makhaza SAPS on charges of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and possession of suspected stolen property.
They are expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court once formally charged.
