Suspect Arrested in Acornhoek for Illicit Cigarettes and Unlicensed Firearm

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Acornhoek, in cooperation with the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison and the Stock Theft Unit, conducted compliance inspections targeting spaza shops and livestock benchmark operations in the Acornhoek policing area.

During the operation, officials searched a spaza shop located at the Acornhoek Old Complex. Police discovered illicit cigarettes and an unlicensed firearm on the premises.

A 38-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of possession of illicit cigarettes and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The confiscated items will be used as evidence in the police investigation. The suspect is expected to appear before the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court on relevant charges.
