President Donald J. Trump declared that Iran is seeking a deal to end the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, while keeping the option of further military action on the table.
During a campaign rally in Rockland County, New York, alongside Congressman Mike Lawler, Trump addressed the Middle East situation directly. He warned that Iran would soon possess a nuclear weapon if not stopped and reassured the crowd that the war would conclude in the near future.
Trump linked the resolution of the conflict to relief for American consumers, stating that oil prices “are going to tumble as soon as I finish up with Iran.”
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick praised the administration’s economic progress, noting that manufacturing jobs are returning to the United States, with businesses once again investing heavily in America and specifically in New York.
Trump and Congressman Mike Lawler highlighted the recent expansion of the state and local tax (SALT) deduction from $10,000 to $40,000 as part of what they called the largest tax cut in American history.
Lawler is campaigning for reelection in a highly competitive district that former Vice President Kamala Harris won in 2024. The area is also home to the family of Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old who was murdered by an illegal immigrant. A family representative thanked President Trump and Congressman Mike Lawler for their commitment to protecting American children.
Trump also announced he will miss his son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding this week. In a Truth Social post, he explained that while he “very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr. and the newest member of the Trump family,” government responsibilities and his love for the United States prevented his attendance.
Instead of heading to his Bedminster Golf Club, the president said he would return to Washington, D.C., to focus on pressing national matters.
