Siblings Found Dead in Suspected Poisoning, Mother in Custody

A 27-year-old woman, identified as the mother of two young brothers, is in police custody facing two counts of murder after both children were found dead under suspicious circumstances on Tuesday, 02 June 2026. Tshilwavhusiku police confirmed that poisoning is the leading line of inquiry.

The tragic sequence began at approximately 09:20 when the father of a six-year-old boy—who does not reside with the child—rushed him to Tshilwavhusiku Health Centre after the minor complained of severe stomach pains, diarrhoea, and vomiting. At approximately 11:10, police were summoned to the facility following a report of a suspected poisoning case. Officers arrived to find the child’s lifeless body lying on a hospital bed.

Hours later, at approximately 12:30, authorities received a separate report from a family member concerning an eight-year-old boy who had gone missing while attending school. A coordinated search of the surrounding area led investigators to a residence in Madabani Village, where the child was discovered deceased. He was found lying on a bed, dressed in a blue tracksuit top and matching long trousers. Emergency Medical Services personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations established that both victims were siblings residing in Madabani Village and that poisoning is suspected in both fatalities. Police launched an immediate investigation, which resulted in the arrest of the children’s 27-year-old mother on Wednesday, 03 June 2026.

A forensic pathology post-mortem examination has been scheduled to conclusively determine the cause of death for both children. Authorities have stated that the motive behind the incident remains under investigation and is currently unknown.

The suspect is slated to appear before the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate’s Court in the near future to face formal charges on two counts of murder. Police have confirmed that investigations remain ongoing as they work to establish a complete timeline and gather further evidence.
