Two Arrested for Armed Robbery in Bloemfontein’s Pieter Swarts Area

Two suspects, aged 29 and 38, were arrested on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, following an armed robbery in the Pieter Swarts area near Meadows Road.

At approximately 14:00, the South African Police Service (SAPS) Bloemfontein Diving Unit responded to a distress call from a 29-year-old male victim. The victim reported that he was cornered and robbed by six unidentified African males, three of whom were armed with knives. The assailants stole the victim’s tekkies (sneakers), a black backpack, and a long-sleeved top.

Following the incident, SAPS divers initiated a pursuit of the fleeing suspects. Two individuals, aged 29 and 38, were apprehended during the operation. Police successfully recovered the victim’s stolen property at the time of the arrest. Additionally, a homemade knife was confiscated from one of the suspects.

The two accused have been formally charged with robbery with aggravating circumstances and possession of a dangerous weapon. They are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court shortly.
