BELLVILLE — Acting on intelligence regarding suspicious activity in mall parking lots, the Maitland Flying Squad intercepted a vehicle in Oakdale, leading to the arrest of two men in possession of electronic jamming devices and various car breaking implements.
The tactical intervention occurred on Thursday, 11 June 2026, after law enforcement received a tip-off about a specific vehicle. Reports indicated that the car, carrying two occupants, was actively navigating through the parking zones of shopping centers and other commercial hubs across the Bellville area.
Officers successfully tracked and pulled over the vehicle on Maree Street. A subsequent search of the automobile uncovered two electronic jammers alongside the seized vehicle tools. Following the operation, the two apprehended individuals—aged 32 and 48—were taken into custody. The automobile itself, which was identified as a rental, has been officially returned to the respective car rental company.
The duo remains in police holding and is scheduled to make their first appearance in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court as soon as formal charges are drafted.
