CACADU — A 36-year-old man is scheduled to make his first court appearance today, 12 June 2026, at the Cacadu Magistrate’s Court, where he faces a charge of murdering his 61-year-old brother.
The charges stem from an incident in the Lower Mgwalana Locality of Cacadu. Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) were dispatched to the scene around midnight on 10 June 2026. Upon arrival, responding officers were directed by relatives and neighbors to a room inside a residence where the victim’s body was located. The deceased was found lying on the floor with head injuries and a suspected broken arm.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived at the location but pronounced the victim dead on the scene. All relevant stakeholders were subsequently summoned to the residence.
According to witness testimonies, the victim, who was reportedly mentally challenged, had been involved in a physical altercation with his younger brother—the suspect—the night prior to the police response.
The 36-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene of the crime. He is currently being detained at the Cacadu police cells pending his arraignment.
