WELKOM — Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Welkom Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) arrested a 24-year-old male suspect on Friday, June 12, 2026, following an intelligence-driven operation in Kutlwanong.
The suspect had been evading police for several months in connection with an alleged murder that occurred in Koster, North West province, in April 2025.
Acting on intelligence regarding the suspect’s whereabouts, the AGU traced him to a residence in the K9 Section of Kutlwanong. As officers tactically approached the property, the suspect spotted the police and attempted to flee on foot. The escape attempt was unsuccessful, as officers had already secured all potential exit routes.
The arrest warrant was executed at the scene, and the suspect was taken into police detention.
