HIBBERDENE, KWAZULU-NATAL — A violent cash-in-transit heist on the N2 near Hibberdene has resulted in three security officers being hospitalized following a targeted explosion. The attack, which unfolded along the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, left the guards injured after an unidentified group of criminals targeted their armored vehicle.
IPSS Medical Rescue was urgently dispatched to the highway after receiving emergency calls about the ongoing robbery. When paramedics arrived at the scene, they established that the suspects had deliberately rammed the cash-in-transit vehicle off the roadway to immobilize it.
In a brazen attempt to breach the vehicle’s vault, the assailants detonated explosives while the three security officers were still trapped inside the cabin.
Despite the force of the blast, the guards survived the ordeal. Medical responders assessed the victims and confirmed that all three officers had sustained moderate injuries during the bombing.
Emergency treatment was immediately administered at the site. Once their conditions were stabilized, the injured guards were rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical attention. To ensure continuous monitoring during transit, they were transported under the specialized care of an IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support paramedic.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack. IPSS Medical Rescue has asked anyone with information regarding the suspects or the heist to come forward, and the public can reach their emergency response team directly at 0823 911 911.
