TLHABANE — A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his 35-year-old girlfriend to death during an argument at her residence in Tlhabane on Thursday evening, 18 June 2026.
According to police reports, a dispute between the couple escalated, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times. Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) personnel arrived to find the victim lying in a pool of blood and certified her dead at the scene.
Following the incident, the suspect reportedly attempted to flee but was apprehended and assaulted by community members. Police responded to the area, arrested the suspect, and seized two knives found at the scene as evidence.
The suspect was transported to a local health centre for medical treatment regarding injuries sustained during the assault by the community. He was subsequently treated and discharged into police custody.
He is expected to appear before the Bafokeng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 22 June 2026, on a charge of murder.
