DA Candidate Sinovuyo Dyokwe Shot Dead Following Voter Registration in Dunoon

DUNOON, CAPE TOWN — The Democratic Alliance is in mourning after its Ward 104 by-election candidate, Sinovuyo Dyokwe, was shot dead in Dunoon. The fatal attack occurred as she was traveling home from a voter registration venue, where she had just spent the day helping residents register to vote.

The tragic incident took place on the first day of the voter registration weekend. Dyokwe had been actively on the ground, working to register and re-register Democratic Alliance supporters in the area before the shooting happened.

DA Constituency Head Nicholas Gotsell confirmed that the party is working directly with the South African Police Service (SAPS) to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the assassination. Gotsell noted that the party is keeping a close watch on the developing investigation as authorities gather information.
