GQEBERHA — Four male suspects, aged between 20 and 34, have been arrested in connection with the murders of four people and the shooting of two others in Kwadwesi, Gqeberha.
The incident occurred on June 6, 2026, at approximately 20:40, when several masked men entered a residence on Mti Street in Govan Mbeki, Kwadwesi. The suspects shot and killed four individuals: a 41-year-old man and three women aged 36, 41, and 26. Two other women, aged 39 and 50, sustained gunshot wounds during the attack. After the shooting, the suspects stole the victims’ cell phones and fled the scene.
SAPS Kwadwesi opened four counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. The investigation was subsequently taken over by the Eastern Cape Provincial Serious Violent Crime Unit.
Following a breakthrough in the case, the unit arrested the four male suspects on Friday, June 19, 2026.
The accused made a brief appearance at the New Brighton Magistrates Court on June 22, 2026. The case has been remanded to June 29, 2026, for formal bail applications.
