Seven Arrested in Ogies for Illegal Alcohol Manufacturing

MPUMALANGA – The South African Police Service (SAPS) arrested seven undocumented foreign nationals on Saturday, 27 June 2026, after uncovering an illicit alcohol manufacturing operation at a building on a plot in Ogies, Mpumalanga.

Acting on public reports regarding suspicious activities at the premises, police responded swiftly to the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered and seized a large quantity of unlabelled alcohol, brewing equipment, chemicals, and packaging material. The estimated street value of the confiscated items is currently under assessment.

The seven suspects found at the property were arrested and initially charged with contravening the Liquor Act. Subsequent investigations confirmed that all the suspects are undocumented foreign nationals, resulting in an additional charge for contravening the Immigration Act.

Authorities are currently conducting a search for the owner of the property. The suspects are expected to appear before the Ogies Magistrate’s Court in due course.

SAPS acknowledged the assistance of the public, thanking community members for their continued cooperation in reporting suspicious and illegal activities.
