DURBAN – The South African Police Service (SAPS), in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies in KwaZulu-Natal, is currently monitoring a peaceful demonstration in Durban.
A strong police presence has been deployed throughout the province, with the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality identified as the primary hotspot. The march commenced at King Dinuzulu Park, with thousands of participants proceeding to the Point SAPS station to hand over a memorandum.
Law enforcement is maintaining order to ensure the safety and security of the demonstrators, as well as protecting property and communities within KwaZulu-Natal.
The SAPS has affirmed its commitment to upholding the constitutional rights of all citizens, including the right to peaceful assembly, while ensuring public order is maintained and the law is applied fairly and impartially.
