A 29-year-old man from a farm near Warden, has been arrested by Harrismith police for the alleged murder of his brother following a violent altercation over an injured dog. During the fight, both men sustained injuries and were rushed to a local hospital, where one later succumbed to his wounds.
On Sunday, 30 March 2025, at about 03:45, Harrismith police attended to a complaint of murder at a local hospital where two men were admitted from the Ha-Mafutha Farm district of Warden. They were fighting and both got injured in the process.
It’s further alleged that the deceased person, Lerole Pitso, was stabbed with a sharp object during the fight, sustained an open wound on his head and left upper arm, and allegedly was assaulted by his brother (suspect) residing at the same farm. On the other hand, the suspect was beaten with a stick and got injured on his hand and was discharged at the local hospital. The assault resulted from an argument that the deceased injured the suspect’s dog.
The victim was conscious when he arrived at the hospital and was able to talk. He succumbed to his injuries while being treated. A case of murder is being investigated.
The suspect (29) was arrested and charged with murder. He is expected to appear before the Warden Magistrate court on Tuesday, 01 April 2025, facing a charge of murder.
