Long Street Ecstasy Seizure: Two Arrested After 252 Tablets Confiscated in Cape Town Raid

Operation Prosper officers target drug dealers on Cape Town's famous nightlife strip, removing dangerous substances from the streets.

CAPE TOWN — A Long Street ecstasy seizure has led to the arrest of two men after police confiscated a significant haul of illegal narcotics from the heart of Cape Town’s entertainment district. The coordinated action forms part of broader efforts to cleanse the Western Cape of drug-related crime.

Intelligence received by law enforcement pointed to active drug dealing along the well-known thoroughfare. Acting on this tip-off, members of Operation Prosper moved in on Friday night, 03 July 2026, to execute searches at identified premises.

During the first search, officers uncovered 108 ecstasy tablets and took a 34-year-old man into custody for possession of drugs. The operation continued along the same stretch of Long Street, where a second premises was searched. This raid resulted in the recovery of an additional 144 ecstasy tablets and the arrest of a 21-year-old male suspect.

A Police Spokesperson confirmed that both individuals are now facing drug possession charges and are expected to make their first court appearance at the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 06 July 2026. The combined seizure of 252 tablets represents a significant disruption to local drug supply chains.
